Northwest Bay Gate - Public Access Hours

Island Timberlands' Northwest Bay area gate is open for public access from 8am to 5pm on weekends.  Please note that no off road vehicles are permitted on our private property, so if you have one in your vehicle, you will not be permitted access.
Personal firewood cutting permits are available at the gate from the attendant for $20 cash.

  3. What does this permit allow us? Is it for a day, a load or more?

  4. The firewood permit allows for one pickup truck load of firewood to be removed, up to 1 cord. The cost at the Northwest Bay Gate is $30, and the wood must be extracted on the day the permit is purchased. Firewood is for personal use only. Safety gear must be presented during time of firewood permit purchase including safety footwear, eye protection, ear protection and chainsaw pants; no permits will be sold without proper safety gear.

  5. I was wondering if there was a similar Public Access Schedule for the Nanaimo Lakes gates? Specifically access to Fourth Lake.
    Thanks

  6. There is access to areas of the Nanaimo River Watershed via Nanaimo Lakes Road. This access is through TimberWest private managed forest land. Gate opening times should be referenced through TimberWest.

  7. Hello! It's a year later, and I'm wondering if any of the above information has changed for the 2013 year. Also, do you sell commercial firewood permits for your lands? And, if so, who would we contact about that?
    Thanks.

    1. For Northwest Bay (this Saturday), there will be no firewood cutting at the Blocks located beyond the 8 km mark on the 155 Mainline. Therefore, the only block in the Northwest Bay Operation that will be available for firewood cutting on Saturday is NLR 45. You can purchase a permit at any of the 3 visitor centers.
