Public Firewood - Weekend of February 16-17

Our first weekend of firewood cutting in Nanaimo is upon us.  The BC Boys Choir hosts the personal firewood cutting this weekend off McKeon Way in south Nanaimo, just outside the community of Chase River.

To find the site: Turn onto Cranberry Avenue from the Island Highway in Chase River and travel to where Cranberry turns into Extension Road.  Take your first right on McKeon Way after you drive under the Parkway overpass.  Posted signs should lead the way from McKeon Way.

Cutting permits: Permits will be sold on-site by the cord (approximately one pick-up truck box full) for $30 - cash only.

Safety gear:  All individuals looking to cut firewood must come prepared with chainsaw pads/pants in good condition and sturdy, closed toe footwear suitable for wood cutting.  Eye protection is strongly recommended.  There will be a safety gear check required at the time of permit purchase.   Good luck and safe cutting.
