Public Firewood - Weekend of May 4 & 5

Gate openings for public firewood cutting for personal use will be available in these areas this coming weekend:

Cash only permitted on a per-cord basis, generally $30 per cord.
Safety equipment must be available to present in order to obtain cutting permit.

Port Alberni:
The Kiwanis Hilton House will be hosting firewood cutting this weekend at our Cold Creek area (behind the Coombs Country Candy Store). Cutting will open at approximately 8am and close around 3pm.

Qualicum Bay:
The BowHorneBay Community Group is hosting a second weekend of firewood sales off Lynx Road. Travelling north on the old Island Highway, turn left on Charlton Drive, left onto Lynx Road then travel about 2.5km on logging roads until you get to a gate.

Northwest Bay:
Gate opens at 7am and will close at 5pm. Permits are available at the gate with a map for applicable cutting location(s).

The Pauline Haarer Parent Advisory Committee and the Crohn's and Colitis Nanaimo Chapter will be hosting the firewood permitting this weekend. Location is off Nanaimo Lakes Road on logging road NLR76. From the corner of Wakesiah Avenue and Nanaimo Lakes Road, turn right onto Nanaimo Lakes Road and travel up a few kilometers following the posted firewood signs.  You will end up turning off the pavement to the right to access the site.  Cutting will start just after 8am and end at 3pm.

Shawnigan area:
Gate opens at 7am and closes at 5pm. The gate into the operating area is at the end of Waters Road in the Cowichan Valley Regional District. Permits are available at the gate with directions provided to areas for firewood cutting.

Copper Canyon:
Gate opens at 7am and will close at 5pm.

We reserve the right to not sell permits to individuals not following safety expectations while cutting.
