Recreational Access Closure - Main Gully Trail & Judges Route

Effective December 10, these two trails are closed weekdays to the public.  They may also be closed for weekends from time to time.

Forest operations are in the area; this closure is necessary to provide for safe conditions for all.
Please adhere to all posted signage in the area.

This closure is anticipated to extend until early April 2015.

  1. Which road's will this close? Just Pass 27, or will this also close Pass Main? If someone wanted to drive Pass Main up to Mt.Cokely during the week, would this closure prevent that?

  2. This effects the old road (Pass 27) which is the access route for the Judges Route. Pass Main is not expected to be closed during these activities.

  3. Thank you for the response. If that is the case, and the Main Gully trail is NOT accessed from Pass 27, how will this effect the Main Gully Trail itself?

  4. The Main Gully trail is located within a safety zone for forest harvesting in the area. To ensure safety for all, it will be closed while our crews are active.

  5. You mentioned that access to the Judge's Route may occasionally be closed on weekends. Will the trail be open Saturday, Dec. 20th? I'd hate to drive all the way out from Victoria only to discover that they're actively logging in the area.

  6. There will be active harvesting this Saturday, December 20. However, the road spur accessing the Judges Route will be safe for access so long as you stay to the road.

  8. Since January 1st is a holiday will there be active harvesting on that day? If not, will Judge's route still be closed that day?

  9. Harvesting is not anticipated on public holidays. However, if signs in the field alert one to access restrictions, they should be obeyed to protect the safety of all.

  10. Effective January 2, this closure is considered a notice of potential closure weekdays and weekends. If you intend to recreate in the area, please arrive with a contingency plan if signs in the area indicate no access for the time being.

  11. Pass Mainline is considered open for access to the regional parks at Mt. Arrowsmith unless otherwise noted. However, the roads accessing these parks may not be maintained. Consider rough roads and winter driving conditions in your trip planning.

  14. At this time, it is looking like the trails will be open in April. However, Island does not promote recreational use of our private property during the week.
