All gates except for Canal Main are open for this weekend.  Cameron Main is closed; please review its specific blog posting for more information.

No firewood harvesting for the foreseeable future given the increased forest fire danger class.

Public Firewood Opportunities for the Weekend of May 23-24

With the drying and warming trend we've been experiencing, public firewood opportunities have been closed for the summer.  This may change if we experience a significant change in our weather conditions over the next several months.

Please report any forest fires to the Province of BC at *5555 on your mobile phone.

Recreational Access Closure - Cameron Mainline @ 24km

We anticipate a closure of Cameron Mainline starting on May 22.
The closure will be at 24km.
It is expected to be in place seven days a week, for approximately six weeks.

This will remove access to Labour Day Lake, Mt. Moriarty and Minna's Ridge.

Recreational Access Closure - Pass27

The Pass27 road is closed to vehicle traffic at this time.
This is to minimize firewood cutting of wood decked and ready to be hauled away.

This is the access route to the lower end of the Judges Route trail.

We expect to open up this road later into the summer.

Public Firewood Opportunities for the Weekend of May 16-18

Our warming weather is leading to increasing forest fire risk conditions.  This has caused the curtailment of firewood cutting opportunities.

As of May 12, we expect firewood sales to be available in Port Alberni only.  This may be updated as we approach the weekend.

In Port Alberni: Firewood permits can be purchased at the Visitor Information Center at the east side of town. The hours can fluctuate so give them a call first at 250-724-6535 to see if they are open.  They will provide a map to three areas open for firewood cutting close to town.
