Gate Information for the Weekend of May 9-10

The following gates are scheduled to be open this weekend for safe, responsible recreation:

Northwest Bay (Nanoose Bay): The gate is scheduled to be open by 10am and closed by 4pm.

Buckley Bay:  The gate is not scheduled to be open until the fall hunting season.

Oyster/Iron River:  The gate is not scheduled to be open this weekend.

Copper Canyon (MacMillan Road, Chemainus): The gate is scheduled to be open by 10am and closed by 4pm on Saturday, and closed on Sunday.

Shawnigan (Waters Road, Glenora): The gate will be open at 8am and closed at 5pm.

Port Alberni gates:  Expect Canal Main and Arbutus Main to be closed.
Expect CX91 and CX165 gates will be open.
The connector to TimberWest property at CX21 is now permanently closed  with road deactivation in place.  Expect Pass Main to be open, with Pass27 locked to prevent firewood harvesting in areas not designated for it.

Please note we only permit public use of our private forest lands on weekends when there is a significant reduction in safety risks in working and travelling around forestry operations/vehicles.

Gates will be locked promptly at their hours posted here.  If you are unable to leave the area after a gate has been locked, there will not be someone available to attend to unlock the gate.  Plan to be out by these posted times.

  1. Will the Buckley bay gate be open this weekend? I don't see it listed as opened or closed, thanks.
