Gate information for the weekend of August 15-16
Gates on the east side of Vancouver Island will be closed this weekend with the forest fire risk at high to extreme levels. This also means all other access to non-gated areas on the east side of Vancouver Island is not open for recreation.
For the Alberni Valley, the main gates for the south (Cameron area) and north (Ash area) sides of the Alberni Valley will be open for the weekend. Some side roads may be gated within these two general areas.
Recreational access is provided on our private property for respectful day use. No camping, and no campfires.
No off road vehicles are permitted on the property.
Report a wildlife to the Coastal Fire Center at *5555 from your mobile phone.

Hello! Will the access to Mount Arrowsmith from highway 4 be open this weekend? Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteYes, the main gate to access the regional parks at Mt. Arrowsmith is scheduled to be open for the weekend.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Thanks a bunch for the quick reply
DeleteHello, is the gate where South Shore road meets the Gordon River mainline scheduled to be closed this weekend?
ReplyDeleteThe area around the junction of the South Shore Rd (Lake Cowichan) and the Gordon River Main is not Island Timberlands property. TimberWest may be able to provide comment.
ReplyDeleteHi there. I have been driving out weekly to check access to Duncan Bay mainline starting at the base of Mt. Washington. I would love to get out and check my trail cameras before hunting season opens up. Any idea when a guy might be able to get back into paradise? Thank you kindly
ReplyDeleteIs the gate for mt arrowsmith open this week? Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteAccess to Mt. Arrowsmith is anticipated to be open through the week. However, this may change as the forest fire risk increases.
ReplyDeleteIs Cameron main open tomorrow?
DeleteThe Duncan Bay Mainline is not within Island Timberlands' private managed forest land. It may be worthwhile to contact other landowners and land managers in the area, such as TimberWest.
ReplyDeleteCameron Main is expected to be open today - Tuesday, August 18.
ReplyDeleteCurious on access to Strathcona Park/Buttle Lake campgrounds. Are there gates and open or closed in near future? Also weekday access?
ReplyDeleteThe best access to Strathcona Park and particularly the Buttle Lake area will be up from Campbell River. BC Parks will provide information on their website.
