Permits for all of our firewood areas are available online at our website or currently at two Tourist Information Centers - Port Alberni and Parksville. Note that these centers may be closed on the weekends and/or holidays.
You must have a valid firewood permit and carry it with you at all times. If you are stopped without a valid permit, you will be instructed to empty your load.
- For Port Alberni (Cameron and Ash) area firewood, go to the Port Alberni Visitor Center at 2533 Port Alberni Highway; and
- For Northwest Bay and Spider Lake area firewood, go to the Parksville Visitor Center at 1275 East Island Highway.
Safety Equipment
Required:
Gear includes protective footwear, eye protection, ear
protection, chainsaw pads/pants and gloves.
Safety gear is mandatory
while cutting firewood; you will not be permitted to cut firewood if you cannot
present your safety equipment. Permits and Firewood privileges will be revoked
if you do not have the required safety gear and/or you are found to be cutting
wood without it. Expect to be asked for your firewood permit and to provide an
inspection of your safety equipment. There are no exceptions to these
requirements.
Please review gate timing on the 'Access Information' blog
post for this weekend to ensure you are not too early or too late to get your
firewood.
