Access Information for the Weekend of August 6th

Summer conditions are increasing the fire hazard.  Some areas are closing due to extreme conditions.  Please be aware!


To report a wildfire or irresponsible behaviour call 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 from a cell phone.


No fires, camping, or off-road vehicles (i.e. ATVs, UTVs, buggies or side-by-sides)  are permitted on our property, unless authorized by Island Timberlands.


Gates may be closed at any time for safety or the protection of the environment or assets.  Gate times are effective sunrise to sunset, unless otherwise specified. For this weekend:
  • Cameron Main: Open M-F and Weekends; access to BC Recreation Site at Labour Day Lake is available
  • Cameron Connector: Open
  • Ash Main: Open; access to BC Recreation Sites at Lowry Lake and Scout Camp/Beach is available
  • Pass Main: Open;  access to Mt. Arrowsmith is available 
  • Comox Main: Open;  access to 21.9 KM
  • Museum Main: Open; access to BC Recreation Site at Father and Son Lake is available 
  • Northwest Bay:  Open 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Chemainus Main (Copper Canyon):  Open; access to 22 KM  8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Glenora (Shawnigan): Closed


Trans Canada Trail Notification:  The Trans Canada Trail at Extension Ridge in Nanaimo will be closed for the next two weeks. 

Firewood Notification:  Public firewood cutting has been closed for the summer and will resume in the fall.

  2. I noticed that the statement regarding the use of ATVs etc. has changed to "unless authorized by Island Timberlands". Was just wondering how a person might apply for authorization for using ATVs for hunting purposes only. Thanks

    1. Hello and thank you for your inquiry. At this time, ATV access for the public is not authorized. We have been conducting pilots with local clubs to assess options going forward. During those pilot periods there were mechanisms in place for attaining authorization.
