Access information for the weekend of Oct 28th, and 29th, 2017

Cameron Operation: For this weekend, Cameron Main and Cameron Connector gates will be open to the Public for access to Pass Main (Mount Arrowsmith). The entire Cameron Operating area will NOT be open for hunting as there will be work crews in this area. For your safety there will be Security personnel at Pass Main; they have been stationed there to assist you with safe passage during active hours.

Comox and Ash Main : There will be no access at Comox Main due to active hauling. Access to Scout Beach will be available via Ash Main.


Museum Main and Corrigan Main: will be closed to the public for safety and operational purposes.

Shawnigan: Please use caution as there will be active hauling on Kokisalla and "M" line

Chemainus (Copper Canyon) Operation: Closed to the public Saturday for operational and safety purposes, open on Sunday.

North West Bay 155 Mainline: Equipment will be operating in some areas obey the signs and do not go beyond an active work site sign.

Buckley Bay; Access to Tumblewater is closed this weekend


Please use caution and be aware that you may encounter heavy equipment at any time this weekend.

CSWM Launches Illegal Dumping Prevention Program

Comox Strathcona Waste Management (CSWM) has launched a new program aimed at preventing illegal dumping across the region. This new program includes a public education and awareness campaign and a new illegal dumping bylaw.

Cochrane Road: Permits available at the Parksville Visitor Center for this week

Nanaimo Lakes Road 45: Permits for this area can only be purchased onsite at the gate located on Nanaimo Lakes Road.

Island Timberlands has fundraising opportunities available in the Nanaimo, Parksville, and Qualicum areas. Any group that is interested in our firewood fundraisers can contact Island Timberlands at;  info@islandtimberlands.com

Firewood is for personal use only and not to be sold.

The following table displays the cost of a firewood permit.  Visitor Centers and Fund Raiser Groups use the same cost structure.






Firewood sites and times are as follows;





There will be random checks for Permits and Safety Equipment.  If you do not have a permit or adequate safety Equipment your firewood may be confiscated, and you will be asked to leave the property.  Non-Compliance with these mandatory requirements may result in further penalties and restrictions.
You must carry your valid permit with you at all times!
Safety equipment requirements include: chainsaw pants, sturdy work boots, eye and ear protection
Check the "Access" section of this blog for gate time openings and closings.
Unless otherwise noted, Public and Fund Raiser Firewood opportunities are for weekends only. 
Notice
There have been incidents where people have been cutting firewood in non-authorized areas.  These areas may be allocated for our Commercial Firewood Cutters and the Public is not permitted to cut firewood in these areas.  Please be respectful to our Commercial Firewood cutters and only cut firewood in the areas outlined above.

The entire Cameron Operating area will NOT be open for hunting as there will be work crews in this area. For your safety there will be Security personnel along Cameron Main; they have been stationed there to assist you with safe passage during active hours.

Museum Main and Corrigan Main: will be closed to the public for safety and operational purposes.

Comox Main: Due to active hauling this mainline will be closed to public access. Access to Scout Beach and Lowrey Lake via Ash Main

Buckley Bay Operation: For this weekend, access to the Tsable Mainline will be closed to the Public.

Chemainus (Copper Canyon) Operation: For this weekend, access beyond the 22 km mark on the Chemainus Mainline will be closed to the Public.

North West Bay 155 Mainline: Due to active hauling this mainline will be closed to public access beyond 11.5 km

Please use caution and be aware that you may encounter heavy equipment at any time this weekend.
